Highlights from our Mother to Daughter Financial Summit: Empowering Girls to be Money-Wise

Moms, teens and tweens joined Miss Teen USA Logan West, and money experts to kick-off our Mother 2 Daughter Financial Summit. The Summit was a perfect setting for girls to bond with their moms while learning the language of money in a fun-filled environment.
The White House Council on Women and Girls reports women are  particularly vulnerable to financial insecurity. There is a key relationship between financial freedom and quality of life. Having a commanding knowledge of basic money concepts is crucial in an increasingly complex global market system.

Our Mother 2 Daughter Summit topics focused girls on making thoughtful and responsible decisions about spending, saving, and borrowing. Girls learned how to deal with media influences and peer pressure on their spending habits, while their moms received an overview of a shifting global market system and the impact it will have on their daughters. Mom's session wrapped-up with lessons on avoiding financial pitfalls that threaten a woman's financial security.

Participant Testimonials

“Excellent content and speakers!!”

“Sessions were eye opening! They provided lots of useful information for financial planning. The speakers were engaging and interesting.”
“I liked the variety of topics. Very informative!”

“The program “FLOW” has a good idea on how important it is for women and girls to know all about financial literacy and money.”

“Excellent in bringing girls and mothers together on such a great topic as finance.”

"The sessions for the parents were informative and fun. My daughter enjoyed the sessions and is putting what she has learned into practice. We have had several discussions about saving, college and budgeting based on what we learned at the sessions. I think this program should be available more often and advertised throughout the state. This was also a great opportunity to meet new people."
